Thanks to Mrs. Janet Spoon for the following:

I know MOST of the kids in the second one.  I can't remember if that was '99 or '00--and I actually wrote Paulo Jawarski (sp?) last night in response to his letter saying he couldn't come 4,000 miles from Brazil for Reunion this year but hoped to come one year soon.  He's a great soccer player.  In fact, most of the guys in that class were.  Michael Schwab, Sasa, etc..  Others I remember are Naomi, Joanne Liu, Paige, Christine, etc..  I could probably name almost everyone if I were still looking at the photo!

The other photo was made in the 1960s, because of the style of crest on the blazers.  I didn't even try to ID anyone of the boys.  Maybe I will later tonight.

The top picture is definitely not from the class of 1966 or 1967!! I knew them all. I attended from 1965-1969. I don't see Tommy Gminski (Arkansas razorbacks), Jay Bardin (Florida), Nixon (Hickory) and other recognizable faces from 1966 (14 to 16 graduated from that class, not 12), and the class of 1967 had at least 30 students and were a handful, really keeping Cap Wiese jumping and on his toes that year. The class of 69 had over 30 in 1966-67; and most of us slept in the old gym [that burned down in the 70's] for a month or so as George Henry Hall was being completed for occupancy in October, 1966. All three dorms were completely filled in 1966-67 (still Patterson Preparatory School for Boys hence the crest on the required jacket for church and dinner and away games) and school attendance topped out at about 135 with the football team going 5-3 beating Hibriten (opened Fall, 1966 as a consolidated school) in Hibriten's first game ever, 49-0. I don't see Arzberger, Paige Connally (basketball star; we were 9-1 at home that year but 0-10 away in 1966-67), Carl MacIntosh (the big football star and later a Veteran, a Patterson fundraiser, counselor, etc.), Ronnie Hamilton, David Milholland (of the Hickory Daily record), Mike Buck, Zachary and some of my prefects from 1967. Arthur Hammerschlag was in 1966 or 1967 - class valedictorian. Please excuse me if some of the names are misspelled - 36 years is a long time!

I do recognize a couple of faces on the left - maybe from an old yearbook or as visiting alums. The haircuts indicate 64 (very likely) or 65, but I won't eliminate 63. Crew cuts like that didn't exist in 66 or 67 - remember the Beatles and the Hippies? What a fight to get our mandatory haircuts every two weeks over in the old gym in that little room off the basketball floor by the guy that gave the haircuts for years and years!!! Seems to me the third guy from the left with the haircut is etched in my mind from 64 or 65. Weren't Mr. Woodbury, Mr. Reber, and Mr. Hinton in 61 or 62? I don't see any of them. They taught for a number of years at Patterson (1960's) with Mr. Woodbury becoming headmaster in the 70's. Anyway, none of the guys in the top picture are in my 1966 or 1967 yearbook or in my memories, and they are definitely not from 1968, 1969, 1970 or later.

George R. Bryant (class of 1969)
