Patterson Scholars 2008-2009

Patterson School has been part of the Caldwell County and Lenoir community since its inception in 1909.  The school has a rich history of educating students from the foothills of North Carolina, across the United States, and from many foreign countries.  That tradition continues today.
Patterson School is a coeducational college preparatory boarding and day school.  The mission of the school surrounds Christian principles that will allow graduates to become world citizen leaders, servants, and problems solvers in the 21st century.
Patterson School is in a critical position to accomplish this mission with excellent faculty and small classes, required options in athletics and school clubs, as well as our 40 hours of service required of each student per year.  Students will work side-by-side with peers who are local as well as from far reaches of the globe.
In the coming year Patterson School anticipates an enrollment between 50 and 75 boarding and day students grades 9 through 12.  In athletics we expect to offer soccer, basketball, golf, tennis, and possibly other programs depending on numbers and interest.  We also have an Equestrian Program that  students can choose to be involved with on a seasonal or fulltime basis.  This program is an additional cost from the tuition.
Beginning in the 2008-2009 school year we are introducing the Patterson Scholars opportunity to those day students who qualify.  The direct benefit is a 50% reduction in the day student tuition and fees.  This opportunity is open to an unlimited number of qualified 9th through 11th graders who wish to apply.

To qualify to become a Patterson Scholar our admissions committee will review each applicant by a set of criteria which includes…

1.       Dedication to and a history of academic excellence

2.       Regular participation in school and community activities, i.e. church, athletics, civic organizations, etc.

2.       …provide a letter from a coach or organization sponsor that speaks to the applicant’s dedication and leadership to the team or organization.
