World History
Grades 9-10, One Credit
This course will begin with the earliest civilizations, emphasizing
human systems and outcomes such as humanities earliest efforts to
make sense of the world within the context of religion and issues
of state and resulting human conflict. This course will also cover
technological developments and innovations from several periods.
Students will be required to produce a research project.
United States History
Grades 10-11, One Credit
This course focuses on the period beginning with British and other
European colonization of the U.S. The course will include in-depth
discussions and examination of the most pivotal periods in U.S.
history, and those issues that propelled develpment of the country.
The course will require extensive writing appropriate to the student's
abilities. Students will have chances to view artifacts and express
themselves artistically.
American Government
Grades 11-12, One Credit
This course begins with an examination of the American body politic
and its motivations. The students will study how issues of state
merge with the issues of basic human needs for progress and more
eficient government. Students will also examine factors of demography,
special interest, demands for human progress, and organized political
action. Students will be required to produce a research project.
Economics
Grades 9-12, One Credit
Students will gain the knowledge and skills to make use of the American
economic system to best advantage. Students will investigage banking,
investing, insurance, and business opportunities.
