Honor Code at The Patterson School
Samuel Legerwood Patterson, benefactor
of The Patterson School, was a man of uncommon rectitude and integrity.
His commitment and faith in the youth of our region, and of the entire
country, was unshakable, inspiring him in the year 1909 to leave his
considerable estate to their service. Subsequent leaders of The Patterson
School have believed to this day that students have the right to be
trusted. It is born out time and again that when people are treated
with respect and trust, most respond honorably. This heritage of trust
and honor influences and aids each student throughout his or her life.
At The Patterson School, all students and faculty sign a simple
pledge: "I will not lie, cheat, or steal, nor will I tolerate
such behavior in others."
It is this straightforward statement of mutual trust that remains
fundamental to the quality of life at The Patterson School.
The Student Honor Council is responsible for dealing with infractions
of the Honor Code. All such infractions are considered as major assaults
on the most cherished values of The Patterson School and society at
large. |
